Winter is well and truly here and she is a cold one. Snuggle up with our Anti-Inflammatory Hot Chocolate with immune boosting & stress relieving Curcurmin, whilst you read through our 5 everyday lifestyle habits that can help give your immune system what it needs to fight off an infection or illness.
Maintain a healthy diet but for the love of bread, don't restrict yourself
A healthy diet is key to a strong immune system it not only provides your immune system the energy that it needs, but ensures you are getting a sufficient amount of micro-nutrients that are super important for helping your immune system such as Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
Feed your body as much real food as you can. Make sure you eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, lean protein and healthy fats.
The key words here are "as much as you can", because after all we are human, & restricting ourselves when we actually want to have that chocolate or bag of chips is seriously punishing for our soles. Balance 🧘🏼♀️
Exercise boosts your overall circulation, making it easier for immune cells and other infection-fighting molecules to travel more easily throughout your body.
Set yourself a time frame everyday where you ask yourself: "Have I done at least 30 minutes of physical activity today?" (we set ours at 6pm because we are night owls), and if our answer is no, we'll make sure it's what we do next. We don't ponder we just do. This way we don't give ourselves time to make any excuses.
Hydrate, hydrate and hydrate some more
Being dehydrated actually slows down the movement of lymph, which carries important infection-fighting immune cells around the body, so its important that you are replacing the water you lose through breathe, sweat, urine & bowel movements.
Get yourself a funky water bottle (we love this one from Solcups) and take this everywhere with you. We are so used to doing something with our hands in between work and running errands you would be surprised how many times you pick up the water bottle and take a sip.
In summer we love getting creative and infusing your water with fruits or veges (cucumber, mint, strawberry), adding some of our Glow Marine Collagen, & drinking out of a champagne glass 👑
Get plenty of sleep
There is plenty of important activities happening in your body when you are not awake. For instance, infection fighting molecules are created while you sleep and studies show that people who don't get enough quality sleep are more prone to getting sick after exposure to viruses.
Sleep rituals don't just work for kids but adults too. Set yourself up with a ritual. Have a shower or bath with some lavender oil, & wind down with some hot tea or our anti-inflammatory hot chocolate. Studies show that the Curcurmin in our hot chocolate is great for reducing stress and promoting sleep 😴
During a period of stress, particularly chronic stress that's frequent & long-lasting, your body responds by initiating a stress response. This stress in turn suppresses your immune system and increases your chance of infection or illness.
It's important to know how to identify stress, and what works for you for relief. Some people meditate and do breathing exercises, others exercise, others prayer, others vent to family and friends. Find what works for you and incorporate it into our daily rituals.
